      Do you have something around you don't want to trap? If not (ie no pets) then a 220 conibear is the way to go. Live trapping is one of those feel good things to do. It helps transmit disease, and it isn't like there are great groundhog habitats that aren't already occupied by other groundhogs.

      If I were just going to shoot trap with it I'd go look for a used single shot with a decent length barrel and a mod to full choke. You will only load one shell at a time regardless of the action type. You should be able to find a Winchester 37 or similar for well under your budget.
