What replacement foam for hard case?

I've been recommended The Foam Factory for foam. They can cut custom foam, or supply egg crate sets and the ubiquitous pick and pull foam.

ethnomathematics. Math that focuses on finding the correct answer is because of white supremacy. Not joking.

They need to watch the movie "Hidden Figures" about the women who calculated the Mercury spacecraft trajectories for NASA. Imagine the effect of not getting the right answer.

P-47 built in Evansville returns home

Cool story! I recall seeing the "Tarheel Hal" in a few airshows, in a way I'm sorry to see that it won't be flying anymore. The few P-47 pilots I know of liked flying the P-47, but the Army Air Force decommissioned almost all of the P-47s after the war so that very few exist today.

      Vintage Mercury outboard

Neat old outboard! Ebay has some active and closed listings for about $350 plus or minus a lot depending on condition. Here's one link for parts lists. They have more links to parts dealers if you are interested in getting it running.... if you want to go down that rabbit hole....

Why is a Marlin 336 so hard to find?

When Marlin was sold to the Freedom Group/Remington, the Marlin plant in New Haven CT was closed and production was moved to various Remington plants. So there is no longer a dedicated Marlin plant. Ruger purchased the trademarks, parts, tooling and machinery only and did not purchase any...

Why is a Marlin 336 so hard to find?

Marlin was part of the Remington group, which has just been broken up via bankruptcy. The Marlin business has been sold to Ruger, so I'd expect a pause in production while the tooling and equipment is moved to Ruger facilities.

WTB: Weaver rimfire 4x28 scope + tip-off rings

The only 4x rimfire scope that I know is still in production is the Leupold 4x28. It's a great little scope. I have both the Weaver 4x and the Leupold 4x and the Leupold is the better of the two, sells for about $200.

      Rugerlin?..

I've seen speculation on various forums, but no reports of an actual offer by Ruger. Do you have a link with more information? EDIT: just found this on TTAG While this would add lever actions to the Ruger lineup, it doesn't seem to be a perfect fit. The Marlin lever guns have been made from...

      N.Y. AG vs NRA

Another interesting take from the National Review.

      oil change, no oil....wtf?

Ask them for an extended warranty to cover any engine repairs that may be required later, at least until 120,000 miles or 5 years if you can get it. I knew of a similar situation at a Walmart store, and they provided an extended warranty to the customer.

      Favorite fixed power scope

Fixed power scopes are unfortunately falling out of favor and are being discontinued. You may be able to find a Leupold FXII 4x33mm scope on a shelf somewhere. But if most of your shooting will be inside 100 yards with only a few shots out to 200 yards, you might consider the Leupold FXI 4x28mmm...

      Underground wiring questions

The neutral conductor caries the return current for the 120v equipment and any unbalanced current from 240v equipment, don't think that 4 awg is anywhere close to what you need. Usually a service calculation is performed to determine the neutral current and required wire size.

      6.5 Creedmore vs. 260 Rem

There are some subtle but important differences between the two. The 6.5 Creedmoor has a shorter case and a longer neck, so bullets can be seated farther out of the case at the same overall length as the 260 Remington. The bullets don't intrude into the powder space of the cartridge, and the...

      Gun Advocate Organizations.....which one?

Other Pro 2A organizations to consider: Second Amendment Foundation - active in filing legal challenges Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms - sister organization to SAF Firearms Policy Coalition - relatively new organization that is also active in litigation

      New Mexico Star Gazing

The darkest sky (or brightest stars!) I've ever seen were at the Chaco Culture National Historic Park. They have an observatory and ranger led astronomy programs. If you are lucky to be there on a cloudless and moonless night the sky views are amazing. The downside is that Chaco is accessed by a...

      Electric code question

Whatever is used for conduit should be listed for use as conduit... so common copper tubing would not be approved. But you could put copper tubing over approved conduit.

Heating when there is no electricity

I used to heat a small house with direct vent natural gas heaters that had millivolt thermostats. They used a thermocouple in a standing pilot flame to generate a small (millivolt) voltage to operate the gas valve and thermostat. No electricity required. There was an optional electric fan to...

      quickload help

I took a stab at this.... Quickload uses bullet files to define the weight and engraving force of the bullet. I used the Ranier 124 grain bullet, and manually changed the weight to 248 grains, but I did not attempt to change any other bullet parameters just to see what the results would be. With...

      Indiana Firearms Law Reference Manual

Looks like the the third edition was the last. Ciyou also wrote the "Gun Laws by State" books, the last edition there appears to be 2016.
