      Nickel Smith 36 question

Excellent advice! There's a good chance that the "specs" the OP sees on the cylinder are actually small holes in the nickel plating.

Antonov AN-124 Departed Indy Int'l Airport This Evening

There were Antonov flights into Hill AFB Utah a little over 20 years ago. Very hushed, carrying objects. Crew held Ukrainian passports

M1 Garand in 300 win mag?

I don't think that is safe to just re-chamber, which is the temptation for a barrel in .30 caliber. Garand already bends op rods if using hotter than GI spec .30-06. Starting with a whole new barrel maybe, and use a McCann's adjustable gas block to keep pressure low.

Agree, I like using pmags for many reasons, but for stockpiling I prefer GI

      Retired yesterday

I retired 1/31/2020 and am glad of it. I work so much for myself now, it makes me wonder how I ever got anything done back when I was away from home for 12 hours a day.

      Beretta…. Renewed contract???

Haha, that reminds me that at OBC we qualified with M16s, but got to familiarize with the M9. I had never shot a semi-auto pistol before. The only handguns I had ever shot before that were single action revolvers. So the first shot with the Beretta I pulled and pulled on that trigger for what...

      Beretta…. Renewed contract???

Thanks for your kind response. The job was occasionally fun, and retirement is good. As to the markings, yikes, that is harder to remember than it should be... I don't recall any agency-specific markings on the guns, but I think the magazines had the "Government/law enforcement use only"...

      Best lever gun caliber

Hmm, I've got a 1950s era Marlin .30-30, a 2005 Marlin .45-70, and a Taurus 1892 clone in .357. Years ago I traded away a Winchester 1894 (post 64, the one with the stainless steel receiver that was plated with a metal that would hold bluing). I like them all very much, but would say that the...

      Beretta…. Renewed contract???

Excellent guess, but actually it was INS. Inspections for a year and then DD&P for 20.

      Beretta…. Renewed contract???

I was originally issued a 1911A1 in the Army in 1991. A couple years later was issued a Beretta. I hope that I don't insult anyone with my opinion, but I much preferred the Beretta over the admittedly worn-out 1911A1. After the Army I was issued a Beretta 96 Brigadier with the Federal...

Make sure your suppressor is on tight!

Hope I'm not off-track here, but are you perhaps thinking of the term "flash suppressor" when you say "suppressor"? A flash suppressor is not subject to the special taxes and licenses of the 1934 Firearms Act. A flash suppressor does not diminish the sound of the firearm firing, just the...
