A muzzle brake and compensator are two words for the same device that reduces recoil and muzzle rise.
Hope I'm not off-track here, but are you perhaps thinking of the term "flash suppressor" when you say "suppressor"? A flash suppressor is not subject to the special taxes and licenses of the 1934 Firearms Act. A flash suppressor does not diminish the sound of the firearm firing, just the flame/flash coming from the muzzle.Wait, now I think I don't understand something, is silencer/ suppressor same thing or different? And no matter if it is a "silencer" or suppressor, both need to be "legally" obtained?
