Have you seen the stars in Arizona?! INCREDIBLE! Dry air plus elevation make for some of the best stargazing you can have. As a bonus, you get topography/geography so different from Indiana.
Not to mention, that if you have hair (not a problem for me) the Carolina humidity will curl it like a...
Ok... Glockish? Glock tag-a-long?
I certainly recognize the Crown Victoria to pinto wagon relationship, but are the firing mechanisms not of the same...type? Help a noob make a connection here.
Ok, so now the revelation that my Taurus is striker fire just like the Glock. Hmmmm... So I have a Glock-like gun that includes a thumb safety. Ideally, when my confidence and skill warrant, I should be able to confidently carry without the thumb safety on. I would still like to know my trigger...
So, since my SA mode gun is fully cocked, the trigger action should be easier and the safety simply locks the mechanism to (hopefully) ensure no oopsies.
I found info that suggests the trigger pull of Glock's "safe action" is 5.6 lbs. at .5 inches of travel. Dunno if that's true. And I can't...
I've received some GREAT advice from these forums. THANK YOU!
Concerning carrying, I've continued to hear the chorus: "cocked and locked." I do that. I carry a small Taurus semi-auto and I keep one chambered with the safety on. I practice drawing and having the thumb do its job.
Some...
I was having all kinds of awkwardness with several types of on-belt holsters worn with dress pants. following advice I read in some gun magazine, I purchased one of those wider belts you see for sale at gun shows. That DID make quite a difference. Dress belts are about one inch wide. Going with...
Bluing is a finish with a lot of depth and complexity to it. Its the kind of finish that you can look at for a long time. If you look at stainless to long you start to see the reality of your hair loss in your reflection. I have to see that every day, and trust me: its not art. ;)
Ouch, you...
Laser tag, rubber-band guns, and don't get me started on what a ping-pong ball can do to a guy.
Sticks make great swords too. There's gotta be at least three rules for those.
Our history, culture and testosterone drive us to emulate combat. How tame do we want to be?
So, the FFL paperwork is just so I can sleep better at night? And, then, I gather that the reason folks exchange i.d.s and document the deal is in case something goes down where the gun's owner could be scrutinized, the seller can show that the gun is not his anymore? (Sorry for the newbee...
Like DDadams I can't do business yet, but if I could I still have questions.
1. how would it be to my advantage as buyer or seller to have FFL do the paperwork?
2. Do I risk buying a stolen gun? (Or is that answered in question 1?)
Well, ok, this cold is not good for much. BUT, with high pressure looming over us the skies are quite clear at night. Orion and his pals are riding high. THE brightest "star" overhead is Jupiter. Get those binoculars you use to spy on the neighbors and point them up. (And then get in quick...
I have been an amateur astronomer for over ten years. I enjoy hanging around in the dark looking up (and telescopes make that last part much, much cooler.) I'm an elementary teacher to boot. My kids get a healthy dose of astronomy as well.
I'm a teacher. We just put off our work. How does the saying go? "Why do today what can be put off till tomorrow." Anyway, that's what mid-June is for.
