      Varmint options:

Can't go wrong with .270, extremely versatile.

      Chicago Handgun Ban struck down

This may be old news by now, but the 28 year old Chicago Handgun Ban is no longer. The Court expanded the prohibition against bans to the state level. Definitely a win for us.

      Is this worth messing with?

I agree with the rest, single stage press is the way to start out reloading. It allows you to learn each stage of the process, to get a feel of when you get all the measurments correctly, and you can always find a use for a single stage press (once you buy a progressive later, you can still use...

Got bullet stuck in the barrel today....

You could load a round that you know is loaded correctly and measure it. Once you have the weight of a round, you can weight the rest from that batch to make sure there was only one errant loaded round.

Why does a 125 gr bullet shoot lower than than a 158 gr bullet

I had also heard that when one uses a lighter bullet, the source I was reading said lighter than 110gr. bullets, the powder doesn't completely burn before the bullet has left the casing and/or cylinder, causing the flames to scar/burn/stain the outter cylinder finish. I have noticed this a bit...

      Lovin the snubbie!

Though there is a price difference between the two firearms, one is not comparing apples to apples. The LCR can only handle .38 special +P; whereas, the SW 340 handles .357 mag 158gr loads (maybe not comfortably for the shooter, another debate). If one looks at a comparable S&W snubbie chambered...

      summer heat + polymer frame = ?

I think you may have a bigger concern of how the high temperatures would affect the ammo more than a concern of how it would effect the firearm. The safe idea is a good on. Storage areas for the same in the trunk may not be a bad idea either. Just my 2 cents.

      Glock Fail to Fire

Shooters521's gunsmithing did the trick. Took the G20 to the range on Sat. and worked like a charm. Thanks, Mark. If I ever have another problem with this firearm or any of the other Glocks, I will know who to turn to without hesitation.

      Bradis

As many of you already know, this an amazing place. I posted a Glock issue that I had on here. Mark (the store's Glock expert) hit me up, told me to come in and he'd look at it. I'm glad I took his invitation. I had read other member's positive experience with this place, but never could really...

      Midwest Gun Exchange

MGE I recently moved away from the area, and have to say that one of the things I miss is this store. They have a lot of hard to find items at reasonable prices. I have bought firearms there at prices that when I ask other places to match they tell me that I am dreaming. Every one I have dealt...

      Glock Fail to Fire

I bought a used glock 20. I also reload and buy professionally reloaded rounds (Georgia Arms, Precision, etc). When I started firing this used Glock, I notice that I would have a few fail to fire. I examized the non-fired round and noticed that the primer was struck but there was only a small...

      Ruger lcr or lcp

I agree with Bubbajms. Not only is the .38 a better round, but with the LCR having the ability to shoot .38+P, the round gets near 9mm performances, which just isn't going to happen with a .380 out of a short barrel. Besides, the revolver gives one more assures of reliability. Given the...

Why does a 125 gr bullet shoot lower than than a 158 gr bullet

I recently purchased a S & W 360 .357 MAG. The manual states to use 158 gr. bullets. I am partial to the 125 gr. ftx hornady critical defense rounds. When I was at the range and shot 125 gr. xtp hornady, I noticed they were shooting a lot lower than when I used 158 gr. bullets. I was just...

      10 mm carry weapon?

The previous poster is correct. If you reload, then having a 10mm and finding/ having ammo is easier. But there for awhile, that was true of any caliber (and don't think that timeframe/period was/is only a one-time occurence). Starline Brass manufactures new 10mm brass and has it fairly...

      Reloading Newbee question

From my experience, I agree with the above post. Just don't mix powders and you should be fine. You clean the brass before reloading right? If so, I dont see how it would be a problem. I understand the science lab principles of not returning a poured substance back to the container, but wouldn't...

      .45 self defense ammo

I like Hornady 200 XTP +P (Tap or Custom). It's kind of the best of both worlds, the higher velocity of the 185, but a higher grain count like the 230.

340 PD ... Bring The Pain!

Midwest Gun Exchange in South Bend, Indiana. They had it marked at 650, but I have bought enough firearms there in '09, they cut a bit more off the price. I also picked up S&W M&P 45 cal (no thumb safety) for under 500 there. I've moved away from the area, and that place is one of the things I...

340 PD ... Bring The Pain!

I bought a 360 in December NIB for $600. Have taken it to the range a few times and love it. Everyone complains about the recoil. It's noticible, but not unbearable (even with full house 357 mag 158 gr. rds). I got through a box of the 357 158 gr and half a box of of 38 +P of the same weight...

      .357 SIG Ammo

Good point on bullet shape and agree. Flat points and jhp are the only two options I use when reloading 357 sig.
