How does the pocket gun crowd deal with multiple well armed attackers?

The problem I see with this is not that the full size is so much better, but rather if the peak of a bell curve was unskilled it would coincide with pocket carry. To clarify I am not saying there are no well trained, highly skilled people who pocket carry, indeed I could name a few, but as a...

      Wildcat - IDPA - Saturday 9-14-2024

Unfortunately I haven't made it down there this year though I have wanted to. You are the same weekend as one of my 4 locals I go to that is 15 minutes away. Shooting the level 3 Tri County Sportsman challenge this weekend though. Have a good match.

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

Last night I shot our club 2 gun match but went pistol only as I have a "major" IDPA match this weekend. Hit the range for a quick one after a board meeting at the gun club. Started with the Sept RM DOM again and went 290/300. At some point one of those 25 yard shots won't get away from me. Shot...

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

Short range trip last night because I knew I was going back out today. I started again with the Rangemaster DOM shooting a 291/300. I then went into a couple of runs of the old Air Marshall Qual. Randy Harris had mentioned Kahr arms is doing a challenge on their website...

Best entry level budget competition pistol?

There is no best. As others have already mentioned, we need to know what kind of competition. USPSA will be a little different than Cowboy Action, which will be a little different from Bullseye, which will be a little different than Pin Shoots, which, etc., etc.

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

Shot the RangeMaster September drill of the month as warm up yesterday. Not a great score but as it was a cold performance I will take it. The discouraging part was my first shot at 25 was the high right one, the next 4 were in the 10 and X rings.

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

I really like action pistol (Bianchi Cup) and wish there were more opportunities to shoot it.

State of IDPA in 2024 and beyond

I haven't but I will keep it in mind. I don't shoot a lot of majors. One or two a year.

State of IDPA in 2024 and beyond

Not sure that you are hearing anything but run of the mill whining. Sure there are things I don't like about the rules but overall it is a great sport. I try to shoot at 4 matches a month here. That is the main reason I switched from USPSA to IDPA, by me there is more of it available. I like...

      What is my problem?

I am actually in the market for a P32. (I am in a different state than most of you) They seem a bit hard to come by. For what I want I see it as preferable to the LCP. It won't be a primary. https://pistol-training.com/p32-tuesday-4/

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

That is a tough one. I have the target hanging up at home and often dry fire it. Today I shot it live for 8 reps at 12 yards on an IDPA target. I was running a pretty consistent 2.6 seconds.

Echelon vs. PDP the decision is hard

I wouldn't disagree, but I would consider the Echelon a duty size gun.

AAR Spec Train Level Up Performance Pistol, Albion MI 8/10-11/24

https://www.spectrain.us/product-page/level-up-pistol 2-Day Level-Up Performance Pistol This course is great for anyone wanting to get faster, and more accurate in any practical shooting context. This is not a "competition course" in the sense that will not spend a bunch of time going over...

      Pistol optic zeroing idea

I definitely agree that you would want to check the zero freestyle in a case like this, however I don't think what is going on here would be the equivalent of resting a rifle on the barrel. I could be wrong of course.

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

Friday I ran Ben Stoegers 1 shot recovery drill (or Tim Herrons bang, click drill, whichever you prefer) and then Bill drills at 7, 15, and 25 yards looking for a total time of 10 seconds. I took a class over the weekend. To paraphrase the immortal words of Roger Murtaugh, I am getting too old...

      Old eyes issue

Really that is why I don't recommend dots to those who wont practice a lot. As you say, dry fire is fine, but time does have to be spent.

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

150 rounds. I didn't get one clean on time run. String 2 was eating my lunch. I never made time on it. String 1 is quite doable, string 4 I got almost every time and 3 is not bad if you don't fumble the reload. This drill really tests all of you stand and deliver skills...

What drills did you run this week and how did you do?

Received the calculated kinetics optics plate yesterday and installed it with an SRO I had laying around. First thing I noticed was that this gun indexes different than my Sigs. Slightly high and right. Obviously my hand is gripping a little differently. I zeroed at 10 and 25. After not getting...
