Unless I missed something, the #1 accessory should be a ham license. How are you going to learn to use the thing legally, without being licensed? Yes, I know there are other frequencies on them, you cannot use them legally either.
Why would you want to limit yourself to only 5 channels/freqs and only 2 watts??? A quick search found most MURS radios more than some ham radios, so what is the benefit? For a couple hours studying and $14-$16 you can have your ham license, and for less than $100, a radio (while I'm not a fan...
No matter what the packaging says, FRS can legally operate only up to 1/2 watt. If you want to stay legal, look for FRS only. And, YES, poeple to get caught using radios without licenses. -- Greg
I agree with 'Krogo', with the FT-8900 you're only getting 10M/6M/2M/440, and only FM. While there is some activity on 10/6 FM, most will be on SSB. Yes, it's only $30 more than the FT-8800, but you'll be hard pressed to find an antenna for all 4 bands (ie. more $). Just my :twocents:. -- Greg

I don't know for sure, but even with the cleaning, you may be getting some build-up in the barrel. I don't see anywhere about you using a lube of sometype (& you did say you were not using a wad). I can shoot a 6-stage cowboy match without cleaning and still hit where I aim. Also, with the...
