      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

It still locks surprisingly well. I can’t move it by hand when the trigger group is locked in place. But, it probably doesn’t hold tight enough when firing it. So, yeah that’s likely the issue. Can’t believe I missed that.

Thanks, I might take you up on that if the trigger and trigger guard don’t fix it.

      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

I might have figured it out. Looks like I need a new trigger guard assy to start with. Mine compared to a photo on a website. I am definitely a rookie when it comes to Garands.

Will do. I will keep this thread updated. I really should have replaced that stuff when I had the hammer out. I will get the parts ordered. Any vendor recommendations?

      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

I appreciate the replies. The M1 Garand is great when it works and a b*tch when it doesn’t. So, I have replaced the main spring and the hammer. It is functioning better. By that I mean I went from a dead trigger for every round fired to about 2 per clip. Better but not there yet. I thought I...

      Magnetic Brass-Looking Shells??

Well yeah as far as I know Russian stuff is just steel case. Maybe they are coating it with brass now. I think there is a ban on Russian ammo right now anyway. Seems like Silver Bear might have been zinc plated steel. I have seen some silver and brass colored coated steel cases around. I think...

      Magnetic Brass-Looking Shells??

Steel coated brass has been around. Not sure what manufacturer uses the CC head stamp. Expect low quality stuff to be left at a public range.

      I think this fits here.

Aftermarket small engine (riding mower) carburetors

I bought one for a Honda Recon 250 and it’s worked great. It was incredibly inexpensive. Maybe 30-35 bucks. Still going after 3 years. YMMV maybe I was just lucky. Not a lawn mower but a small engine nonetheless.

      Primers

I am not short on anything but have definitely noticed the big jump in powder prices and lack of LRP on the market. Thanks for the replies. I shoot a lot of milsurp rifles so my stock of LRP won’t last forever.

Any idea why the LRP shortage?

      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

Ok, well a moment of humility. I put the old stock back on the Garand and it DOES still have the issue. I can see a little wear on the hammer so I ordered a replacement. It isn't terrible though. My father in law bought a rifle about 15 years ago and the hammer on that one looked awful. Strange...

      Needing Garand advice dead trigger

Calling all Garand gurus. So, I inherited an M1 Garand from my Dad. It’s a Springfield Armory with a nearly new Winchester barrel. A great shooter. Only issue was the stock was rough. So, I installed a brand new replacement stock. It did require some fitting. After installing the new stock I...
