Although my brother told me once that he (and a bunch of others) taped theirs together to keep them from making noise when they were trying to stay hidden.
    Dunno if that's valid. It's a 50/50 shot at BS.:D

I don't know unless he inter-laced one in a boot or something else .

Nowadays they make rubber "gaskets" to wrap around them so they don't make noise .

One has two holes in it for your boot laces.

In case you were blown to bits on the beach / jungle / fields of *where ever* they could at least ID your remains.

Never heard anything like that before...:dunno:

    Hmmm...maybe tape was the rubber "gasket" prototype...circa 1972. :)

Snippet of a conversation to a couple of cherries not so long ago...
Tape your @$%@%$@@ Tags together. I know they have this #$%# rubber stuff you can put around the tags to keep them from clinking and clanging together. It sucks. Tape them together and use F'ing 100MPH tape! Make sure is the OD green tape #$%#%$#! And while your unf'ing yourself, take your second set of tags and put one in each boot. No DUMB*** not in the boot, in the laces that is why there is a hole in the tag! That way when your Truck goes boom I can figure out which is you and which is turd troop...

Sorry just got though talking to to cherries about this the other day...
Really loses somthing when you edit the language... ;)
