I don't have one of my loading manual available to look at but, if memory serves, I think 760 is a better match. A lot will depend on your bullet weight.
Thanks, I have checked 3 or 4 manuals and Hodgens site. They list both H335 and H380 but nobody shows 748. I will most likely use H380 but hoping for data with 748
The goal with reloading for the 7.5 Swiss is to get as close as possible to the GP-11 Swiss ammo. Google it and you will find much more info on reloading for this cartridge.
Thanks guys, I worked up a load with 748, 168 hpbt, going 2550 fps with no pressure.
Got a load with TAC to same specs. Have not tried them yet on paper, we will see.
Thanks,You are right. I have thought about buying it over the years but I keep talking myself out of it and spend the money on bullets, powder, or something.
I don't know of anyone using 748 in their 7.5 Swiss. Most of us were using Reloder 17 as its pretty accurate and is supposed to be a near duplicate of the Swiss military ammo loading. I've also used Varget with great accuracy too. I've been running the ammo for a long time in the straight pull rifles and also the PE57.
I've also been running the round in a Desert Tactical long range rifle. Its a bolt action switch barrel rifle designed for 338 Lapua mag and its really accurate. It is really accurate with the 7.5 Swiss as well. I've run it out to 2400 yds out west shooting steel plates. I run the Sierra 175gr Match kings and they work really well in all the rifles. The tipped matchkings take less scope elevation out past 1000 yds so they're a bit lower drag. Not sure if I'd worry about that for the straight pulls at 300 m.
Quickload is really handy for deciding what powders to start with. It can be trued up with a bit of fiddling but for the most part it is just a good reference rather than a precise guide to loads. I think its worth the cost as it can save you some cash on powders you pay for only find out they're not what you need.
