If you do opt for a Taurus, check out Ed Pinkley Firearms.
I just clicked on this necro-thread with the exact same thought, again.
Oh, and CardsFan - what in the calssifieds caught your fancy?

I had several Taurii and enjoyed most of them. The Gen 1 24/7 Pro DS was a great pistol, until the trigger needed servicing and Taurus confiscated it as part of their law suit recall. The Gen 2 was just not the same quality of the Gen 1, so I sold it ASAP. My TCP never ran right, so Taurus replaced it with a new one. I sold it immediately upon arrival, unfired.
I moved on to an FNH FNS-9 and a Colt Mustang. Doubt I will ever purchase another Taurus. Sad, but true.
Gotta get those 50!
I fondled a 44 mag Taurus Tracker at the LGS last week that I was impressed with. It would be a handful to shoot but the trigger was really good in both SA and DA.
I have had maybe 3 Trackers. 2 were in .17HMR and one was in .357.
I had issues with both the .17's but easily fixed.
They were all decent shooters. Both the .17s had yotes on them.
Taking a yote with a 17hmr pistol is an accomplishment.
The two Trackers I have had in the past had somewhat heavy trigger pulls, but a spring kit fixed that. I had to play around with the .22 cal to get it to be reliable on double action
