Where were you on 9-11-2001?

My wife was getting ready to go to work and I was getting ready to go to church for a class. We turned on the TV and watched the first tower on fire. We still didn't understand. We heard that a plane crashed into the first tower. It was about that time that we saw the second plane hit. I wwent to the church with my equipment and we watched the events on TV. It wasn't too long that I was called in. It just didnt seem real.

I was on board the USS Carl Vinson. I was having dinner in the ward room when the XO came in and wheeled out the 60" from his ready room. We had just left port call in Singapore and were steaming for the Persian Gulf to maintain "no fly zone" over Iraq.
The ship pretty much hit the brakes since we were already on station. Strike ops orders came down 07OCT01.
