Just wondering guys, but is there ever going to be any solidarity between any significant percentage of people? I realize that we are all on this forum because we are firearm owners/enthusiasts and that gives us a common interest, but there really is more to life and politics than just firearms. The reason I post this is I see a lot of folks trying to convince others of their point of view. Some are blatantly aggressive about it and defend their position as if the person questioning it is going to personally deny them their right to think the way they do. Everybody on here shouts "Molon Labe" and "From my cold dead hands". I take that as they are willing to defend their ideals to the death. Do most of you truly know what you are shouting about? I hear a lot about how this country and its constitution were formed and for what reasons. Most of this information is contradictory. It seems our language has changed so much, the Constitution has become like the Bible and used as an end all to arguments when the user generally doesnt understand what it is he/she is defending.
Lets say, for example, we get in a total Red state, Christian mob rule Republican. Lets say he keeps all the "bad stuff" "bad" and all the ""good stuff" "good". Are the Libertarian minded among us going to be satisfied? What if the government starts aggressively enforcing new laws against certain personal freedoms? Dont you think our mess will start all over again? Will the people who believed in this president and these laws defend their nation with their lives against someone else shouting "Molon Labe"?
Likewise, say we get a truly "Laissez Faire" type government with a pure Libertarian at the helm. Are the Red state types going to be satisfied that people are legally getting high in ways they dont like or that those two "queers" over in the corner are holding hands? How long will it take before we get aggressive demands to stop a certain behavior?
The same goes for those who want socialism because of some misguided altruistic passion. Now that the gross folly that is socialism has been seen by the world, it cannot be unseen. This means that the monster will always be there. The threat will never disappear. Are we gonna use our beloved weapons against this demon even though its not figureheaded by our government? What if it directly threatens our "Laissez Faire" "Molon Labe" way of life?
I guess what I really wondering is, are all of us actually wanting freedom, or are we just wanting to impose our way of life (whatever that may be) onto someone who doesnt (cant) see it the same? Can any of us see things the same? Are the socialistic values that have defined this country since the beginning of the 20th century so ingrained in everybody that we take a certain type of control over another? These questions are not rhetorical. These questions are honest, genuine questions, though their nature does promote some thought. Im not calling anybody out specifically, I really just want honest answers.
