First, Eddie I loved the joke! second I have never been camping without an axe or tomahawk, but I would not carry one backpacking and don't have one in my BOB now. I guess I should go the saw route or do I really need to carry the axe? It would be great to have but the extra weight!!! :dunno:

Lots of good lists. Personally, I would have to have more than 10 just for the sheer size of my family. Six of us can carry a lot of stuff on the run besides just our clothes and food. I plan on carrying 5 days of food for all of us plus our gear. Kids would carry their food and clothes and sleeping bags while my wife, my oldest, and I carry the gear, food, water, and shelter.

However. If I had to go extreme light....

    1. Tarp
    2. 50ft paracord/utility rope
    3. Survival knife w/built in saw
    4. EDC + 5 mags + 200 extra rounds
    5. SKS + 300rnds and .22 rifle + 1K rounds
    6. 5 Fire Steel Sticks
    7. 2 bottles of iodine water tabs
    8. First Aid Kit + 'script meds
    9. bag of tobacco and papers
    10. US Army Ranger Handbook

I'm torn between my Standard BoB backpack or my medium Alicepack for the light load. The Alicepack has the metal frame and is easier to carry, but the backpack is lighter with more secure storage. :dunno:

there really isn't much need for carrying clean clothes other than socks, keep your feet comfortable and dry.

Mmm... I should have remembered the Hennessy. :dunno: Really, there is a need for a warmer set of clothes in the spring and fall for at night and extra layers in the winter are ESSENTIAL.

    Nothing........

I have to stay home...my wife can't bug out and the older kids are on the way home in a crisis....so I have to wait.

My 13 year old daughter will be my backup until the others arrive.
