I'd say in the neighborhood of 20+ years difference, 20 lbs, and numerous shades lighter of the hair. Other than that, dead ringer.

A day is a long time, just because there were other people on the trail that day doesn't mean they were there at the same time or even the same hour. A gun shot in a remote woods isn't that loud if no one is around.
This video might help paint a better picture of the scene, very remote and isolated.

Perhaps the killer left as-yet unreleased information on those cell phones that have caused this investigation to ramp up so exponentially ie nationwide digital billboards and 2 dozen G-men on the ground. A challenge? An itinerary?
I keep thinking back to the movie "The Green Mile", in which two little sisters were murdered by a monster down by a river,
that ended up being somewhat close to the family. Mr. Coffey's special gift let's him know that the monster killed the girls with their love for each other. Out of fear for what he would do to their sister, the other wouldn't scream or run.
I'm feeling more and more that this might be the case with this one as well. Though not sisters, they loved each other and were likely hopeful that this wouldn't end the way we all now know it did. So they cooperated up until it was too late. We always say it only takes seconds.
My prayers and broken heart sent out to family and friends as well as all parties involved in this disgusting situation. Minus the demon that did this.
I don't think the suspect is as old as the landowner.
Although considered a "suspect" is it not still possible that the guy in the photo is not the killer?

I lived in Delphi for a few years, just looking at the picture they keep showing it could be almost anyone. As that is almost the standard issue Delphi uniform, boots, blue jeans, carhart jacket (or similar warm but not "fashion" jacket), and to me it looks like a brown beanie style hatIs that not the same guy we have been told is the suspect? The picture we have been shown looks very similar.
I understand that a double murder of teenage girls isn't "normal" as far as murders go. But I just read that the FBI is currently using 6,000 billboards in 46 states. Doesn't that suggest that there is something bigger with this incident? Or that they believe there is significant additional danger they are trying to prevent? Or perhaps, they really have no idea who this is and are panicked?
Just seems like with the amount of FBI, and the level this has been taken to nationally - that there is much more to this than what we know.

The billboards by themselves don't suggest to me much other than they may have a suspicion that the person was just passing through or perhaps a trucker. What makes me wonder is how fast and far up the food chain it has went.
That is almost the standard issue "uniform" for most of small town IN. Heck most of small town midwest USA.
Apropros of nothing, see here:

Key excerpt:
As a strong advocate for sex crime victims, I’ve been closely following the pedophile arrests since Trump took office. There have been a staggering 1,500-plus arrests in one short month; compare that to less than 400 sex trafficking-related arrests in 2014 according to the FBI.
Is it possible this guy pegs some sort of suspect profile for an existing case? I know they've been focusing on truck drivers for trafficking routes . . .
Thoughts?

My first thought when it was posted an FBI agent was participating as soon as they were reported missing was that this may be someone the feds were already in some form of contact with or otherwise on their radar.
I thought that. But would it be even slightly normal for the Dir of the FBI to get two briefings on it within a week? Or the Executive assistant director to be getting daily briefings?
Depressing to see this thread make it to the second page, this case is stalling out it seems, sad.
But we also have to remember who is the Vice President. And there are now A LOT of high ranking Indiana politicians at the national level now. I think Pence is definately pulling rank and moving this right to the top of the pile
There was a snippet on the news last night that looked like they had a checkpoint set up associated with this investigation. Anything up with that?
Oh yeah - I wasn't asking as a knock against what they're doing. I think they've been consummate professionals about scaling up the investigation and being disciplined in their engagement with news outlets. Not really. The police are ensuring that we know that they are out there trying.
Everyone here understands that this will (and should) take time.

The thing that looked like a checkpoint, though, would've been a very irregular development.
