Up front about it now. They weren’t upfront when they disclosed $40M of donor cash going there before. It’s going to be an expensive cycle and again- if you’re whole image is around being a rich billionairre … why not pay your own bills? At least she's open and upfront when asked about the possibility of using some RNC funds for their party nominee's legal defense against a politically motivated lawfare campaign by the opposing party. Like she said the decision to do so would be up to a determination by the RNC rules committee. She wouldn't just be able to do it herself. As of yet she has not even been voted in to be an RNC co-chair.
"Lara Trump was asked by media at Wednesday's event whether she would use funds raised by the RNC to pay legal fees for her father-in-law's numerous criminal and civil cases. In response, she said she didn't know whether it would be allowed under RNC rules but could see such payments as being in line with the interests of the party's rank-and-file members."
"I think that is a big interest to people. Absolutely," she said, arguing that many Republicans believe the cases against Trump are politically motivated and therefore want to help. "They feel like it's an attack not just on Donald Trump but on this country."
Distinct difference between blaming Trump for having legal bills and discussing the merits of GOP donors paying for those legal bills vice Trump paying his own bills.Blaming Trump for having charges and legal bills is kind of the same energy as blaming the woman with a short skirt that caused her rape.
You were speaking specifically about Lara Trump's comments to which I responded.Up front about it now. They weren’t upfront when they disclosed $40M of donor cash going there before. It’s going to be an expensive cycle and again- if you’re whole image is around being a rich billionairre … why not pay your own bills?
Because winning the election is called a campaign. A campaign is defined as:Why do we need to prioritize paying a billionaires legal bills and not winning the election?
JMO, even if guilty on all counts, 8A "nor excessive fines imposed," seems pretty obvious to this not a lawyer.Interesting write up of the situation of appeals for Trump.
Will SCOTUS Climb Out on a Timbs for Trump?

I got the impression this is about the law that allows patients to try "unproven" or fringe treatments.....Anyone have a backstory link?
This is exactly what @HKFaninCarmel does not understand. He is still “frustrated with their inability to guide the party back to the “respectable conservatism” of years past”.If You're Still Griping About Trump, You Don't Get Today's GOP
The GOP electorate is not clamoring for a return to a traditional conservative archetype. A controlling interest sides with Trump.thefederalist.com
Also, from the article-This is exactly what @HKFaninCarmel does not understand. He is still “frustrated with their inability to guide the party back to the “respectable conservatism” of years past”.
“Noah Rothman recently lamented that a generic conservative would be favored by the polls, and Republicans could taste success once more if only we simply return to our senses and nominate the generic conservative. This conclusion skirts the issue at hand, however. The GOP electorate is not clamoring for a return to a traditional conservative archetype.”
@HKFaninCarmel does not get that “Trump’s ascendancy is not rooted in conventional political metrics” and keeps posting conventional thinking to the unconventional.
He [Trump] is the only candidate in either party that embodies a genuine political movement, one with an appeal distinct from traditional policy platforms and partisan ideologies. His direct communication style, unyielding stance against perceived establishment forces, and readiness to challenge political norms resonate deeply with his supporters. It is an emotional connection and one that his political challengers have been unable to emulate let alone surpass. They see in Trump not just a leader, but a symbol of their values, frustrations, and aspirations. The most faithful supporters even believe he embodies America.”
“The future of the GOP, therefore, is not just about choosing between different political strategies or ideologies. It’s about understanding and responding to a new political reality — one where the electorate seeks not just policies but a movement that aligns with their deepest convictions and emotions.”
“There is no leader within the party that can currently accomplish this feat, and waxing on about the public’s apparent refusal to “see reason” is part of the problem. This dismissive attitude of Trump’s base only serves to deepen the divide between the old guard and the new base. Trump’s challengers failed because they did not communicate a compelling vision. Trump himself has a vision, and in the face of numerous challengers, it has proven near bulletproof.”
“The Republican Party’s trajectory is inextricably linked to the unique political movement created by Trump. Acknowledging and understanding this phenomenon is crucial for the party’s evolution. As the GOP looks ahead, the key to its resurgence lies not in policy innovation but in the ability to inspire and lead a movement that resonates as powerfully with its base as Trump’s has. Trump isn’t going away — nostalgic longing for the past won’t defeat him.”
Well explained and Paul Ryan has acknowledged this is happening, likely why he quit.
It is clear to even this writer that America First is Trump first. I don't care about the person but the country and results. It is an emotional connection and one that his political challengers have been unable to emulate let alone surpass. Trump's base will dismiss anything he does. His unforced errors are never a problem on Truth Social. The problem is that the rest of the country didn't. You need a majority to win as a mob. Otherwise, you must expand your base to get to a majority. There is no leader within the party that can currently accomplish this feat, and waxing on about the public’s apparent refusal to “see reason” is part of the problem. I posted that quote. Also, from the article-

You really just do not get where we are in politics today, otherwise known as what time it is. Everything you say sounds like what I said in Bush v Gore, it sounds so outdated, almost nostalgic.Trump's base will dismiss anything he does. His unforced errors are never a problem on Truth Social. The problem is that the rest of the country didn't. You need a majority to win as a mob. Otherwise, you must expand your base to get to a majority.
He can steamroll a primary with this base, but I hope he can figure out how to grow it enough to win.
