Well that's pretty much what caused him to get in bed with Pence in 2016. He needed to use Pence to draw in evangelicals to help him get into the WH. Maybe getting in bed with Pence might be a bad choice of words but it makes for an amusing visual.I can see it. If Trump cares more about himself than he cares about the principles he claims, yeah, if he thinks bringing in Haley will get him back in the Whitehouse, I think that would be something within his range of behavior.
So Dems are crossing over to try to stop Trump. Those people will not vote for Trump or Haley in the general. Tis quote spells it out pretty well.Hmmm.. Could this poll be an indicator of why Trump just might pick jebly to join the ticket to possibly help draw in those who support her but are not so keen on Trump? It might just be leverage for jebly to work her way into the VP slot. I mean what other possible reason would Trump have for picking her over an AF running mate IF indeed he does.
This is the same reason that I mentioned in my previous post in which @HKFaninCarmel was calling it a smart move in a prior discussion.
Poll: Nearly half of Nikki Haley’s Iowa backers say they’d vote for Biden over Trump
The Iowa poll finds most likely GOP caucusgoers would vote for Trump in the 2024 general election — but not Haley’s supporters.www.nbcnews.com
DES MOINES, Iowa — Most likely Republican Iowa caucusgoers say they’ll vote for former President Donald Trump in the general election if he’s the GOP nominee, regardless of the candidate they’re supporting on caucus night.
That is, except supporters of former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley, with nearly half of them — 43% — saying they’d vote for Democratic President Joe Biden over Trump.
These new findings from the latest NBC News/Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll of Iowa further illustrate the degree to which Haley is bringing in support from independents, Democrats and Republicans who have been uneasy with Trump’s takeover of the GOP. Fully half of her Iowa caucus supporters are independents or crossover Democrats, according to the survey results.
Without the Dems, she probably isn't even getting talked about there.Yet while Haley’s first-choice support has ticked up, just 9% of her supporters say they’re extremely enthusiastic about her candidacy — substantially lower than the enthusiasm for Trump and even DeSantis.
Well you have a point that some Democrats are only crossing over to jebly in order to stop Trump but I still can't rationalize why Trump would pick jebly, IF indeed he does other than to try and draw in voters besides the AF base he already has in his back pocket. He's gonna need more than just that somehow. So Dems are crossing over to try to stop Trump. Those people will not vote for Trump or Haley in the general. Tis quote spells it out pretty well.

She would be a horrible choice. I've always wondered who votes for a Presidential candidate based upon who their VP choice is. I just don't see why someone would do that.Well you have a point that some Democrats are only crossing over to jebly in order to stop Trump but I still can't rationalize why Trump would pick jebly, IF indeed he does other than to try and draw in voters besides the AF base he already has in his back pocket. FIFY. Well, kinda. There's a big Venn diagram overlap with evangelicals, neocons, and chamber-o-commerce type conservatives. What transpired, most of the evangelicals outside of the neocon ring became supporters in my estimation. Evangelicals are now one of the biggest groups among his supporters.Well that's pretty much what caused him to get in bed with Pence in 2016. He needed to use Pence to draw inevangelicals[neocons] to help him get into the WH. Maybe getting in bed with Pence might be a bad choice of words but it makes for an amusing visual.
The danger in getting into bed with someone like Nikki Haley, what if Neocon disease is contagious? He could get an STD.So obviously there would be some sort of reason to form an unholy alliance (figure of speech) that flies in the face of AF principles and get in bed with jebly because he thinks she can help him get there.
I'm curious to hearing stalwart Trump supporters take on trying to rationalize the betrayal of AF principles with specific reasons for doing so IF (and I stress IF) she is the pick.
I don't think it'll be overlooking it. If past conversations are any indicators, they'll make it into a good thing. Some good ole fashioned 4D chess move.I guess an argument that they could possibly try to make (IF she is the pick) is that throughout history there has been some unholy alliances formed to achieve an objective. In this case the objective is getting back in the WH. IMO that might be their rationalization for overlooking it. The thing is that some of those alliances have come back to bite in the ass.
Now I’ve also heard it said by @HKFaninCarmel that it would be a smart move by Trump in order to try and draw in some that are not exactly Trump enthusiasts.
Like I said though it’s only fair to say that this is all speculative talk at this stage, based on an X tweet from a not so well known source that might have a motive , it may never happen and it's something that we'll have to wait and see to believe.
Like I said. I doubt it. But Trump often defies the writing on the wall.Well this all becomes moot if he doesn't pick her which remains to be seen. I still don't believe he will until I actually see it happen.
Not only does Nikky Haley encompass every evil trait of neocons, she's a damn fool as well. She boasted about having all the big money backers, not realizing they're putting their money into her campaign to have her win the nomination, so Trump won't. And then they'll drop her like a used--well...you know--in the general election, they turn against her, and put all their cash behind Democrats.Hmmm.. Could this poll be an indicator of why Trump just might pick jebly to join the ticket to possibly help draw in those who support her but are not so keen on Trump? It might just be leverage for jebly to work her way into the VP slot.
I mean what other possible reason would Trump have for picking her over an AF running mate, IF indeed he does but to try and tap into voters other than the AF base that he already has in his back pocket.

It's just another reason why it wouldn't benefit Trump in choosing her. We'll see.Not only does Nikky Haley encompass every evil trait of neocons, she's a damn fool as well. Actually, if that's the play, to boost Haley then dump her when she wins the nomination, it would thwart that plan for Trump to pick Haley now. Blackrock would have sunk their dough into her for nothing. She's off the board at that point. It's just another reason why it wouldn't benefit Trump in choosing her. We'll see.
Uniting the party and expanding appeal, while dreaded by some on here, is generally considered to be the smart move.Hmmm.. “For wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat, because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.Uniting the party and expanding appeal, while dreaded by some on here, is generally considered to be the smart move.
While it’s hard to get the no compromise-purist-curmudgeon corner of the party to come out for a “Chamber of Commerce” nominee, it’s really hard to win if the middle of the road voters aren’t comfortable with the person on the top of the ticket.
This is why Haley should* be able to win in a landslide and Trump will have a very difficult course to navigate.
Unity means there needs to be common ground. What common ground is there between the neocon and America-first factions? Beating Democrats? Neocons might as well BE democrats.Uniting the party and expanding appeal, while dreaded by some on here, is generally considered to be the smart move.
Purist? Are you ****ing kidding me? I have to vote for DJT (ETA: the porn star ****er) to get someone who will put America first in any context. That's far from pure. While it’s hard to get the no compromise-purist-curmudgeon corner of the party to come out for a “Chamber of Commerce” nominee, it’s really hard to win if the middle of the road voters aren’t comfortable with the person on the top of the ticket.

What common ground is there between people who think Trump went on a damaging campaign of lies and court cases to steal an election then behaved wildly inappropriately and those who adore his every Truth social moment?Unity means there needs to be common ground. Haley is not going to win in any landslide. That idea is pure delusion.
Probably a lot, the difference is those who support Trump know what time it is and the others are in ignorant bliss of normalcy bias…What common ground is there between people who think Trump went on a damaging campaign of lies and court cases to steal an election then behaved wildly inappropriately and those who adore his every Truth social moment?
