You're very close (money wise) on a fine custom 1911 just the way you want it... Les Baer Custom Inc.
Yeah, I saw a Baer Commanche on GB for just over my limit. Sweet pistol and Les is nice.

Ruger steel frame Commander. I don't think any parts are MIM, just cast steel. Meets all other requirements....
Does the Dan Wesson also use MIM internals?MIM internals I believe.
They are well fit up guns though.

Are you looking for a "true" Commander size 1911?
Almost all the newer guns are full of MIM crap.
I hope you never fly because the aerospace industry use a lot of MIM parts.
Thanks Jeff. I didn't even think about that.
Is the Baer 4" or something?
It is, and there are quite of few manufacturers that don't make a true Commander size 1911, Les Baer being one.
I think the Colt Commander 04691 would be a great start.
Send it to their custom shop with what you want done. (no mim, etc)
They do excellent work.
Give Keith at Dan Wesson Firearms a call.
Although the traditional Commander is not a catalog item, there is a gentleman on the 1911Forum that is having one built.
And they use all you specifications.
Worth a shot.
Yeah, I wondered about that. Crazy that COLT can't manage their finances.Colt just filed Chapter 11. I would not send anything into that mess nor buy anything from them.
Thanks again Jeff. I have been looking at the DW commanders (bob-tailed) and definitely considering one. I will look into getting in touch with Keith.
