I've only known Scott Duff a short time, relatively speaking. He has a lot to do with me choosing to study the M1 Garand some 15 years ago. Sadly, I discovered tonight that he has decided to no longer operate his firearms consignment site. For those of you that did not know of it or never saw it, I'm not sure I can adequately explain it. The site was THE premier historic martial arms porn page. Yes, I said that right. Duff is the present day M1 Garand subject matter expert, and his knowledge of all other U.S. historic battle implements is challenged by very few. About 3 or 4 times a year he would publish for sale battle implements that were brought from private collections and sold for fair market value. These were usually firearms with historical provenance and rarity that were not commonly found. They commanded a premium price but when dealing with Duff, you had confidence what you were buying was what it was represented to be. The examples I witnessed on his site over the years were quite honestly museum worthy; guns the general public just never saw.
But, as with all things affected by time, Mr. Duff is getting on in years and has to choose wisely what to spend his energy on. I was privileged to have witnessed this classic period of our generation, sorry to see its end.
