They got my name

my daughter is having a sleep over with some friends and they got scared from an email reply.

They responded to a craigslist ad and said what they were posting was a crime.

They had a few emails back and forth being funny with the poster and then the person replys back with my name.

My ip goes back to my internet provider but not my name. So how did they respond back with my name.

I think it was the cops trying to get someone to play. What do you think.....

FYI-the email is a generic yahoo address with nothing linked to my name. The posts they gave had no link other than to my IP

I have a friend that pays a fee to be able to look up peoples names by their email, lock the door and go to sleep.

BTW kids need to becareful "being funny" with someone on the net that they don't know.

I doubt that you have a cop wanting to play around unless you were in the porn area and even then, they don't normally post buy rather respond. Be careful out there.

The person was trying to purchase something you can't buy. The girls were just trying to tell the person that in the email.

I still think it was the cops and they were just pushing back to end the email string.

It's really not hard to find names tied to email addresses, even ones such as yahoo, etc. First thing that comes to mind is do you have your name entered in the yahoo profile, so that when you send an email it shows the name? Is that email in any way tied to the screen name that you use on craigslist? As repair said, there are also pay services for back tracing email addresses.

Anymore craigslist is full of fake adds just so people can send you b/s in the mail once you give them your address for directions. But anyways you could probably call your internet provider and find something out.

I have had a couple good transactions on craigslist. I got me a $500 truck bed tool box for $100, and I sold my subwoofers and amp from my previous car for $400. Craigslist isn't all bad.

yea I have bought a lot of stuff on craigs list, to includ a 1966 Cadillac and a pair of wave runners!!! I also sold my 98 cadillac i had and got my asking price..... so I have also had really good luck....R
