Make flyers and post them everywhere possible. I had 12 stolen, got back 7 thanks to the flyer. Good luck.
How recent is the ex-girlfriend, and (stupid question probably) how are things between you two? Do you think she'd go as far as to steal from you or have someone steal from you for her? Honestly, aside from the roommate, that'd be where the majority of my suspicion would lie.
To put this simple she moved in and she never assisted with bills and attempted to put me in debt, and used any advantage she could get. Do we get along now? No. She was kicked out and after 4 months she wanted to obtain her stuff, the police were called and is was explained due to the items were not obtained after 30 days that there is nothing she can do I she was escorted of the property. I also had recordings of the conversations where I offered to be there so she could pick her stuff up she never showed. Now if she did break in she did a good job or she may have had one of her friends assit her. But there is plenty of possible outcomes but its a matter of jumping on it without undoubtable proof.
But the other note is that she did not know I had any guns as I did not bring them to the house until after 2 months ago. But its possible she could have seen the safe and instantly throught money but why not grab the $200 in 20s sitting right on the desk? and why not grab the two AR15s and the 6 boxs of 40 cal ammo? Thats where it gets confusing but also adds up more to that it was someone I know.
I also want to thank you all for you help
I've been there done that...it sucks. I had the same thing happen to me 12 yrs ago. The pistol showed up 7 yrs later on a traffic stop. A LTCHer had bought my pistol off the street...he got locked up because of it. You never know when/where it will turn up. It stays in the NCIC wanted files forever (practically speaking).
Why would the LTCHer get locked up?
Was it becuase he knew the gun was stolen at the time of purchase?
Say for example I buy a gun from you (Denny347) in a face 2 face transaction and you tell me it's your gun you got it from Cabelas.
Then 2 years later I get stopped for a speeding ticket and the LEO runs a check on my gun (which you happen to give me a bill of sales for or I still have the email exchange we did regading the purchase) and it turns out the gun was stolen. So are you saying I'm geeting in trouble for stolen merchandize when I have no way of knowing it?
Good job on the investigation. Maybe they will find out who stole it now. Might even get it back.
Just a thought. If they recovered it like ten years later. Do you have to return the money that you got from the NRA insurance?
Good job in finding the fingerprints!! I hope they find the guy and hopefully get it back. I bet it was the ex and probably a new bf or friend of hers. Good luck man getting stuff stolen is never fun!
