MSA no longer makes sensor cells for the 571 CO detectors.
So, as the cells die, I replace them with Draegers. Total cost new unit.... $2,400

Today a MSA Toxguard had the cell die.
    Replacement cell cost $1,200.
Why the heck am I replacing the cell on a 20+ year old unit then?
1 out of 3 new cells don't work, and we eat the cost.

For $2,400 I can get a new unit, cells last longer, are easier to find, and the cells only cost $400.

    Ok, done complaining.

I've got an MSA Chillguard and Chemguard that are both less than 8 years old and have both been completely rebuilt once already.

Basically, I'm spending more $, energy, and time keeping outdated equipment working, than just replacing.
Something some efficiency experts pointed out, then my company ignored.

I have to do that too or take the boat out of service. Although not to the extreme you do.

    We're getting away from MSA.
    Movin to Draeger.
MSA's quality, service, and pricing has turned off about all the techs here.

Used MSA Toxgards in diary holding pens in the winter and normally 1-3 out of 5 would need serviced monthly - not junk but not far off

    Young man ??? I wish !
Gotcha...new toys that meet or exceed your expectations are good. Last 3 months not so good here - accident/injury, inproper ER treatment, infection, emergency surgery, hospitalization, another surgery, rehab/therapy, etc. But making forward progress...recently managed to ride motorcycle a little, fished a little, and shooting a little again. Shot plate racks last night with that toy I got from you. Hoping to shoot state USPSA match in couple weeks but not sure yet if can. Actually was thinking of sending you a PM couple days ago-wondering how your friends were doing last few months.

We have 25 CO detectors. We dont have a problem with the monthly service, it's one of the things we do.
But we're trying to save our company $$$$, yet they keep throwing it away.
