Any EMT/Nurse/Medical types lurking. My gas grill blew out. I figured it has just gone out and hit the igniter. Needless to say it must have been out for awhile and blew up. Knocked me back a step or two. Nothing hit me other than the wave. Kind of feels like getting punched in the side of my face. Most of the hair on my right arm was burned off. It does not appear to have burned my skin at all. Right eyebrow and eyelashes have some crispiness. Took a shower and scraped off as much of the singed hair as I could (now I know how the hog feels). The wife put aloe vera gel all over the affected areas. She wants me to go to the ER. Since I don't have any blisters so I don't see much point. Any opinions.
Hey Rayne what are you taking Sunday to shoot?
Also, you know how I love my flip flops. Do I need to wear regular shoes for this? I might just wear ff and bring along socks and shoes. Lol!

OW! Ok, here's what you do if you want to avoid the ER, Dr., etc. I'm into "homeopathic/herbal" types of cures, as well as regular medicine ones, and this is going to sound crazy, but we've used it ourselves for quite a while now, and even BOR believes in it. Have your wife slice up an onion, very thinly (or 2, depending on how big of an area you burned) and then spread out the slices on a cloth, big enough to wrap the burn in. Put that on it and leave it there for several hours, and NO, it won't make it hurt worse, contrary to popular belief. Leave it on for as long as you can, keeping the cloth moist so that the juice from the onion soaks into your skin.
You can change out the onion for new slices every few hours if you want to, but the first application is the most important. Doing this will take the burning sensation out of your skin, speed up the healing process, prevent or limit the amount of blisters, and you won't have the scabs or scars you usually would with a burn like that.
I know it sounds nuts, but trust me, it really works. We used it on our daughter when she spilled boiling water on her entire hand, and by the time we got her from her apt to the ER, a lot of the burn had eased down to close to a 1st degree one. They still bandaged it for her, gave her pain pills, (which she never needed) and set her up with a hand specialist to deal with any scars that would form. She saw him 2 days later, and he released her from any further care, she had healed that much.
As I said, we've been doing this for years, and it really does work. Give it a try, if it's a 1st or 2nd degree burn, this should take care of it, if it's past that into an part of a 3rd degree, then definitely seek medical attention, as those burn the skin totally off and usually require grafts.
Good luck, and yes, I was in the medical field for many years. I'm a retired Medic.
Take care,
