    Ooh, I get to help make sure a crane operator doesn't kill anyone here in a few...


    Yesterday I got to break into 2 cars. Sometimes my job is fun.

    Mentioning a crane and breaking into cars in the same post reminds me of a funny story. Several years back, I had a job operating a triaxle dump truck with a crane and grapple picking up construction site debris--scrap lumber and bricks for the most part. At one site, on my assigned day, a crew of illegal alien brick layers parked where I needed to set up and none of them seemed able to acknowledge my presence or speak English either one. I set up the truck not within reach of the pile, but within reach of their car and proceeded to swing the crane over the car and open the grapple to grab the damned thing. It was amazing how quickly they got the point all of a sudden and got the car moved before I moved it with the predictable damage.
