thermostat is 2° warmer than the house. so it is really only 65 in here. I turned the furnace back on and the thermostat to 71°
It will be 69° when it kicks off. Thermostat is in a bad location.

I've never done a "scientific test". Ours is set to 68 daytime and 65 at night (11 to 6). I still get too warm at times during the night.

nothing scientific. I have my indoor/outdoor thermometer in the kitchen, which is always 2° cooler than the hall
