Why is it OK for parents to get their daughters ears pierced when they are a baby/toddler/whatever, but if a parent would get their child a tattoo it would be child endangerment or something? Poking holes in the earlobes ain't unicorns and rainbows either...

I saw a friend on Facebook post a pic of her daughter (I'm guessing 5ish years old) who just get her ears pierced today. Got me thinking.
Because ear piercings will close if she chooses later on not to have pierced ears, remove earrings and let the holes close. Tattoo removal is more involved.
