LOL random use. So I guess something that's good for all of those?

.22 is good for all around fun. Get yourself a Ruger 10/22. Good little rifle out of the box, and the mods are endless.
If you can find a good deal on a SKS, pick one up as well.(good price is under 250 and don't buy a Yugo) I have had a few and never had one that I would consider a POS.

two of the PWs need to go to this thread and read their posts.

-Joe- and -Bigum- you two are so funny. Just think, way back in 08' you were both a couple noobs and worrying about your little green bars for reps, now look at ya...the baged master.

look at posts number 27 and 28 in the above thread

Good night all, sleep well and I'll see everyone tomorrow.

Do you think getting a Rem. 700 in a .308 is a, I dunno, bad idea for just target practice? Maybe shooting varmints around the house?

I shoot x39 out of an SKS. It's more accurate than an AK, but harder to load without practice. I got the Tapco mags for it with a Tapco stock, but I'm thinking about just using stripper clips anyway.

I had a Rem. 700 in 308. If you're looking for varmint killers, that's too expensive. However, if you want to get into the long shot, 308 is the best place to start. IMHO that is. I miss my Remmy.
