    i went almost 25 years hating bacon, even just the smell of it cooking, so yes it can go rancid.
    I cooked so much of it when I was a cook at Azar's that the smell just turned me off, I am just now able to enjoy with other things, like a burger or chicken sammie
    When Covid (I think) made my sense of taste get weird, bacon was about the only kind of meat that still tasted normal. It's gotten better now, but just about every other kind of meat had a metallic taste to it.
