WHO declares monkeypox a global health emergency as infections soar

Here we go again. But will they only make men who have sex with other men mail in their ballots? Given that those would be mostly democrat votes, it wouldn't surprise me in the least. Please... control your sexual urges long enough to vote in person.

    Globalism.
From 1970-2018 thousands of cases, but all limited to Nigeria,Congo, and a few African nations(and mostly gay men). All the below years do not mention in Nigeria it is considered endemic(mostly do to the causal and accepted gay community). Did it jump from animals, likely.

2018 first 2 UK cases. A man from Nigeria and a medical worker at the hospital that treated them.+ Nigerian cases
2019 One case in Singapore,a 38 old Nigerian.
2020 zero cases outside of Nigeria.
2021 One British man traveling back from Nigeria infects 3 others(one being female, the first one infected outside of Nigeria). One US case,a man who returned from....yep Nigeria.
2022 story starts again in Nigeria with a man traveling to the UK. This time he infects multiple male partners who infect even more. Many of those travel to other countries(NY city as well).
Start of Gay pride month. Outside of Nigeria 31 cases. End of pride month over 4000.Currently 14,000 cases with most being in....Nigeria.

US current cases. Indiana has 31. 98% of all cases are gay/bi men.

I am still going to label this one under NOT MY PROBLEM STOP FKING other men.

Monkeypox is not a sexually transmitted infection (STI) or “gay disease” that is only spread between men who engage in sexual relations with other men, contrary to social media posts online.

These claims, which experts have called both false and harmful, have spread across platforms

A person’s sexuality and sexual orientation is not the route of transmission, Lee said in an email. “Anyone can get it if they have had direct contact with an infected person”.
    ...

“Viruses do not care about your sexual orientation or the type of sex you have”, Titanji said via email to Reuters. “They care about a host that is susceptible to infection and the optimal conditions for transmission.”

The virus is typically spread through close physical contact, but this can be both sexual and non-sexual (here).

Since the current outbreak, the WHO has said that monkeypox is not considered a sexually transmitted infection (here).

While it can be transmitted through close contact during sex, it can also be spread by touching material used by an infected person, their coughs and sneezes, or other skin to skin contact (here).

"So far, more than 2,800 U.S. cases have been reported as part of an international outbreak that emerged two months ago. About 99% have been men who reported having sex with other men, health officials say." From the above article.

Over 95% of CURRENT cases are sexually transmitted, per the New England Journal of medicine( https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2207323 ) published July 21,2022.

Yes close physical contact to an infected person or items they touch can spread it VERY rarely, but even the WHO admits it is most often spread from sex,and the NEJM paper clearly points out almost every case is sexually transmitted.

It may not have always been an std,but currently that is mainly how it is spread.
    Period.

I do not give a **** about being politically correct and the media is contradicting itself posting it both ways, depending on the audience.

"We report 528 infections diagnosed between April 27 and June 24, 2022, at 43 sites in 16 countries. Overall, 98% of the persons with infection were gay or bisexual men, 75% were White, and 41% had human immunodeficiency virus infection; the median age was 38 years. Transmission was suspected to have occurred through sexual activity in 95% of the persons with infection. In this case series, 95% of the persons presented with a rash (with 64% having <10 lesions), 73% had anogenital lesions, and 41% had mucosal lesions (with 54 having a single genital lesion)."

Of course, back in the 80’s, abstinence worked very well against HIV, for those that practiced it. Protected sex worked but not 100% because condoms leak, break and come off.

Contract tracing wasn’t done because who can remember who you had sex with in a drunken, drugged out state of mind.

And how dare you stigmatize a vulnerable population. Close down gay bathhouses, how dare you.

You could almost hear them cheering when Ryan White got it.

    SMH some people never learn.

“Tracing it back it’s pretty clear I had my exposure at the Thursday orgy with all the out-of-towners,” he tweeted. “My 2 cents: it’s reductive to tell gay people to not have sex, it didn’t work in the early days of AIDS and clearly it’s not working now.”

Symptoms last 2 to 4 weeks, with no treatment of the virus, just managing symptoms. Death is rare, and mostly occurs in the young and immune compromised.

The incubation period (interval from infection to onset of symptoms) of monkeypox is usually from 6 to 13 days but can range from 5 to 21 days.
