Picked one up awhile back bad barrel. Couldn't hit squat with it even key holed. It got gone. I won't Taurus again or believe any youtube.com hype again.

I'd say that you got it a long while back. The first ones out all had bad barrels. They fixed that.
You could have called their customer support and they would have shipped you a new barrel that works for free and within a few days to a week it would have arrived.
It is American made in Georgia, and not made in Brazil. So the parts are here, and ship out fast.

The hype is real. They run everything from standard velocity to hyper velocity. And like any firearm if you find what it likes very accurate.

I haven’t heard of any issues with the Gen 2 barrels. The Compact that my daughter shoots had at least 1000 rounds through it and I haven’t seen any issues with it. I am usually pretty slow at adopting anything new, waiting until any issues are worked out.

Have a Gen 2 toro and a competition model. Like usual both are more accurate than me. Lowers are identical. It is just the uppers and mags that have changed. Hard to beat at the range and I feel they are the best performing regardless of price and for sure the best bang for buck in the polymer trainer style 22s

I'm kinda partial to my 5.5" Buckmark. I am about 2000 rounds into my second copy. The first one just wore out somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 rounds. I just put a cheap picatinny-mounted scope on it. Can't wait to see what it does at 25 yards on a sandbag.

Agreed. I'm only about 1200 rounds into my tx22 compact, but completely reliable and a great practice pistol.

Can’t decide if I like the new gen 2 or the competition better. Anyone else have or had both and decided on one or the other? If so what were reasons. I shoot them both accurately and they are both tack drivers regardless of what doddg says in his 22lr range time thread

I got a tx22 when it first came out.. absolutely loved the gun till about 1000 rounds through it, was cleaned regularly and all of a sudden she just turned into a jamming machine. Never could figure it out.

Interesting. My original tx22 has thousands of rounds without a problem. Haven’t had a problem out of either of these yet. The competition has probably 1500 through it. The Gen 2 only about 500 or so.

It was weird, this was back when you couldn’t find any magazines for it. I ended up getting rid of it. But wouldn’t mind trying one again

That was initial thought would be a mag problem. I feel that’s like 75 percent of all problems in any gun
That is the weakest point of all guns I believe. I was having a hard time believing that just cause it was with both mags. But I also hadn’t gotten another mag. Anything is possible, but it’s kinda a mute point now lol

Or an extractor issue (would have to understand if it was failure to extract vs failure to feed, etc).

In any case, overall I have been very happy with both my TX-22 and my TX-22 compact and have a good number of rounds through them (though of course it seems like you were happy with yours right up until you weren't).

For a trainer style 22 the TX-22 guns have been more reliable for me than many others.

The only true “reliable” 22 lr semi auto I’ve ever had is a mk4. I had a mk2 and the pins would keep walking out. But the grip on the thing was too small for me.
