A-1 sauce was invented to hide the taste of rancid or spoiled meat, yet many people STILL ruin perfectly good steaks with it
I was at a local restaurant, one of the better steak houses in Evansville, I told my server I wanted my steak medium rare, she asked “would you like our special house made steak sauce?”
I replied “why…is the steak bad?”
She smiled and said “no sir…but some people like to ruin a perfectly good steak!”

And, don’t forget, “steaks” that need A1…
If I'm cooking burgers inside rather than over the fire, sometimes I use a sauce.
Good steaks really don't need anything more than cooking carefully, salt and pepper, as mentioned.

However, if I have a lesser grade steak, like a round tip, I often add butter, but no sauce. The red flavor is still there, but the rich tenderness is not.
    Butter helps with that grade.

I like A-1...but not on steak.

[ETA] To be clear, when a guy is low-carbing and on the road, he may und up ordering a "steak" at a Chili's or Applebee's....I do not really consider those "steaks", but they are beef (I hope) and get the job done. In those circumstances, I use the A-1. On a decent steak including those I grill myself...no.
