I hate the modern pickup truck. You need a ladder to lift something over the edge into the bed. These are all about the look that started with the Chevy Avalanche. They can keep them. Give me a nice older pickup with crank windows and a manual transmission, and bed rails I can easily reach over to get stuff out of the bed.

I don't know what the Avalanche was supposed to be, but it definitely wasn't a truck.

When I went to the dealer and asked to see a vinyl interior, crank handle, stick shift pickup and the closest thing they had was an Avalanche, I knew I needed to look elsewhere.

I see more hawt chicks driving Avalances than ever these days and I never see any working men using one.
Not even for fetching water and ice for the crew.


And since we are talking about things we want to see again in our trucks, how about reintroducing those side vents that blow air inside the cab, even at street speeds!

True. Not a truck, but it set the style standard for really high bed walls because it had some sort of bed.

My buddy just bought this '71 Blazer rolling chassis and boxes of parts.
It will be an interesting next couple years as we assemble it.
