If a parent has raised kids with no love and loyalty to their parents such that they would bring in the authorities, they've got huge problems whether gubmint is brought in or not.

Not always. They are not just little robots we program with our preferences. Three of ours we mostly respectful, cooperative, sometimes even helpful. The fourth, while just as intelligent and afforded the same opportunities, was mostly none of those, and had no problem calling the sheriff or CPS if she felt slighted, put-upon or overworked. All investigations found nothing. She grew up in the same family with the same parents as her siblings.
The same heat that softens the potato hardens the egg.
