OMG, I know what you mean. The huge decorative clocks in most stores and interior design places these days all have "4" as "IIII".
Makes me CRINGE!!
I have a Grandfather clock with roman numerals that is an antique from the 1700's. After this series of posts, I had to check it out.
Guess our forefathers that made clocks also used IIII instead of IV.
