The millennial progressives I personally know are very excited about Mayor Pete Buttigieg. I watched his appearance on Bill Mahrer and can understand why - he's very smooth for not having been on the national stage before (a la Obama at the first convention speech he gave).
If he doesn't implode, he could quite possibly be the progressive "outsider" that Bernie was in 2016. He sounds like he's to the left of Bernie (seems like a smooth-talker in lock step with AOC policy wise), so I could really see him eating Bernie's lunch on the progressive side, while Bernie, who's now really establishment, looses to Biden on the establishment side.
If I had to bet money at this time, I see a Biden-Buttigieg race for the Dem nomination reminiscent of the Clinton-Sanders primary.
No doubt in my mind that Joe can be every bit as dirty as Hillary was to gain the nomination... but might not be wise to use the same playbook, well when fighting against another Dem.

I think everything will depend on the economy next year. This country is never going to elect a socialist if things are looking good even in the short term. Watch for big media to start talking about coming depressions and severe bear markets soon in an attempt to gin up a crisis.

Sooooo... I’m sitting in the airport this morning, and the people behind me are talking politics loud enough that I can’t help but overhear them.
They are obviously Democrats, repeatedly express their disgust for Trump and reiterate that the most important thing in a candidate is someone that can beat him.

The bat**** craziest leftists have advanced degrees, so it’s not that they’re bat**** crazy because they’re stupid. It’s that they’re indoctrinated by bat**** crazy academics. Or, for older people they’re indoctrinated within their ideological bubbles. And they’re convinced that they’re right and moral. I know a couple, he’s a partner in an architectural firm, and she’s a chemist. Both have advanced degrees and are otherwise really smart people. But they’re both bat**** crazy. Intelligence and education doesn’t protect oneself from indoctrination. Probably the most deleterious attribute is being so cocksure they’re right that they never stop to wonder if they could possibly be full of ****.

I wholeheartedly agree with Doug the most hateful racists I have encountered are “educated” liberals who think that they have everything figured out. Completely intolerant people who really hate themselves and believe in equality for other's not themselves they are too smart to be a equal of a common person.
I feel for INGOers that have them in the family or are forced to directly associate with such people.
