He's got enough for the DNC to show Bernie the door at the convention. The leadership needed a standard bearer to emerge from the pack that the establishment could get behind and they have that in Biden. I would imagine that the decision makers are already focusing on the general election.

Let me see if I have this correct. The gentleman that has admitted to quid pro quo, which was what they were trying to impeach President Trump over, is likely going to be the Democratic nominee for President. What's more, one of the former Presidential Candidates who is also a US Senator, voted to impeach President Trump over quid pro quo, yet has came out and endorsed Biden.

I do not believe Biden has won all the needed delegates to ensure victory.

Mitchell Research - Michigan Democratic Primary Poll:

    Biden 54
    Sanders 33

    Poll conducted March 8th.

If Biden wins in Michigan, it's probably over. If he wins by double digits, there's no coming back for Sanders barring something insane by 2020 standards.

    https://twitter.com/NumbersMuncher/status/1236862150561456128

Sanders has spent almost all his time in Michigan over the last few days because it has basically become a must-win state for him.

There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it.

    Always follow the money

Personally I don't like it that things are that way with leadership, but I've been put through the wringer enough to realize that's how it works.

That’s true. Even doped up on adderall, I don’t think Biden will perform well one on one with Bernie. Too much focus will be on Biden. He did okay in the Nevada debate, but he shared the focus with a lot if other candidates. And all he had to do was follow Warren’s lead, “rich man bad”.

No one to dilute his time. It’s him versus Bernie. But all Biden has to do is reassure democrat voters that he doesn’t have dementia. He doesn’t even need to wow the audience with policy knowledge. Just don’t say anything too stupid.

Strategically, Bernie needs to not come off too socialist. That’s kinda hard for him to do though. It’ll be interesting. It seams in either case, revealing the real person is the danger they both face. Can Bernie hide his inner Stalin. Can Biden hide his dementia? :dunno:

    We’ll see.

I'm wondering what happens if Biden blows a gasket before the convention. Will they Captain Pike him?

If Biden leads going into a contested convention, then I’m confident he’ll win the nomination. If Bernie leads by a small margin, his delegates will probably abandon him based on DNC rules, and vote for Biden.
Since both scenarios are written into the DNC rules, what’s the issue? Delegates are going to pick the candidate that they believe is best able to win. I think it’s a no-brainer, that Biden is that person. The only reason people around here are saying “follow the money,” or saying that Bernie would be “screwed,” out of the nomination, is because they recognize that fact, and would prefer a weaker candidate facing Trump.

Well, it's the logical, sensible thing to do - two attributes we don't assign to Bernie supporters. (can we call them Burners?)

Those folks are the ones who will be crying bloody murder that "Bernie got screwed". Those are the same folks that probably want to dissolve the electoral college.

So that brings me to a question for you, Kut... Having it down to Bernie or Biden vs Trump makes it an interesting dilemma. If you don't like Trump, then you get to choose between a Socialist and (arguably) a kleptocrat who has said that he will appoint Beto as his 2A Czar and disarm you. Biden has also said that that he would turn the military against those who would stand up for their 2A rights. I get the dilemma. I'm a libertarian and not a Trump fan (especially of his Twitter comments). For me - I go with Trump, because I choose not to be disarmed. I get that it's a crap sandwich for some folks. But which side of it are you choosing?

Not quite. I favor Bernie a little bit because I think any mainstream American party that would nominate a socialist needs to be burnt down. With Biden, the concern is that should he win that his VP would really wind up serving out his term and that could let some really awful people into the big chair depending on how he chooses. It is an artifact of how little thought people put into who and what they are voting for

I don't think Biden will win, but stranger things have happened

Your quid pro quo ain't the same as Joe's quid pro quo. Same words. Different intent.

Shocking I know. But that's why one guy gets impeached and should have been thrown out of office....and makes you want to rub the hair on the other guy's leg.

I really REALLY dislike F. Chuck Todd, but I did happen to catch a little of MTP. They were showing via graphics a variety of ways in which Biden's victories on Super Tuesday were supported by greater turnout across different demographics. At least 1 place had a nearly double voter turnout than 2016.

Of course, completely left out of the analysis was that the 2016 cycle had primaries for both parties - so people had to self-select which one to vote in. This time, the Dem primary was the only game in town. So, that will stilt things badly. (Granted, going back to 2008 may not have been very helpful either.)

Anyway, beyond the obvious minority-turnout increase, it looks like some historically suburban-Republican counties had high turnout. That could be a faultline in the coalition that elected Trump in 2016. Political people will tell you that primary voters usually tend to vote the same way in the general, or stay home. Having pulled the lever/pushed the button for a candidate once, it is easier to do it again.

Taken together, voters who either stayed home in 2016 or voted for Trump in order to shake things up, may not be as willing to do so in 2020.

For Trump, this may not be the done deal that we all expect.
