The coldest winter of memory 3 years ago was a killer. We still had piles of snow in April.

I remember watching the weather for up here and really feeling sorry for you all. It was below zero degrees early and often with a lot of ice. FWIW, I was able to wear flip flops 364 or so days that year. The high never really got below 50.

Mouse wears flip flops all year too.

I am out of them now but heck yes. After 40 plus years of high lace up steel toes I let the dogs out in the air as often as I can.

That winter convinced me to strip the siding and start from the studs on the back of the house. OSB/Tyvec wrap and new vinyl. When the temps fell to -18* with the high winds the cold permeated the walls. Not any more.

    That was a serious winter.

I'm not a bit flip flop wearer myself. I made the mistake of taking a pair on vacation to the beach in NC last summer and by day three, my feet ached from the things.

I have a pair of hiking boots I year pretty much all the time. When I can't, I'm either barefoot or in loafers. I have a pair of New Balance Vibram soled shoes for working out.
