What is the correct height that a bullseye should set above the ground. I just bought a couple of target stands and was wondering what height to cut the furring strips. I there a standard or is it just preference?

    Thanks

Whatever height you decide to put it at, make sure your background is safe.

I just buy the 6' lengths and place the target wherever I want. Sometimes I set up 3 or 4 targets of various heights. Food for thought....

Just be sure it is directly in front of the backstop.

If I can, I like my pistol targets about chest height. To reduce the trips down-range, I'll do VUPDBlue's trick as well, and put up a few targets from top-to-bottom if I have room.

Other posters have reminded you to be sure about what is behind the target.
I normally set my target's height according to what I'm practicing for or training for. If I'm practicing for specific competition then I try to replicate the way those targets are set. If I'm working on defensive shooting then I put the targets at the heights I'd guess an assailant to be, chest high normally. I'm a bit anal on things. But That's the way my occupation demands things.
