I really do see a pretty good chance of China imploding at some point. They have a real demographic problem, not enough young people, and their economy is slowing down fast. Recession or depression in a one billion plus country could be a real issue.

Exactly. China's baby boomers are retiring just like ours are. Over 70% of their retirement investments were in real estate as that is how they were forced to invest by the Chinese govt. They have 1.5 - 3 BILLION never occupied condos. Their value will be nearly worthless. How will the Chinese retirees ever hope to survive on nothing from the bulk of their own investments?

Their economy is tanking. Their demography is in free fall. They've stopped collecting data so no one knows how bad things really are.

Soon, we (and everybody else) won't have a choice to decouple. It'll be forced down our throats.

    Regards,

    Doug

China has sent a record-breaking number of warplanes across the median line of the Taiwan Strait, at a moment the annual NATO summit in Washington is still underway. Taiwan’s Ministry of Defense announced in a statement that "66 PLA aircraft and seven PLAN vessels operating around Taiwan were detected up until 6am [22:00 GMT Wednesday] today."

Among those 66, some 56 of the aircraft crossed over the median line, which serves as an unofficial border between the two sides, after which Taiwan scrambled aircraft and put missile systems on high alert "in response" to the People's Liberation Army (PLA) incursions.
