I just purchased a Hatsan Escort semi auto 12 gauge home defense shotgun. However, I can find no ranges around Indy that allow you to practice shotguns other than Indiana Gun Club, which is skeet and trap shooting. I'm told I can shoot it there, but are there any ranges where can target shoot the shotgun to get used to it?

    Thanks!

Really? None of them in my area do. Highsmith's in Greenfield allows the Taurus Judge, but only the 45 LC. Atterbury allows only slugs. I've emailed Fall Creek to see what their rules are.

I know accuracy unlimited in Seymour allows shot, I believe indy trading post does but that may have just been because he was impd, and point blank rents shotguns but I don't know what ammo they allow

that's less than an hour from me, so I called them and they're fine with shotguns. So we'll head there. Thanks for the info!

Wilbur Wright in new castle will. The shotgun range allows clays. And if no other users on shotgun range we have set up cardboard for spread tests. Range is kinda expensive though.....it's FREE!!!!!!!

Parabellum allows shotguns with buck, but the guy behind the counter winced the last time I asked them about it. lol

A range would make a mint if they had some steel targets or paper targets set up in a 25 yard bay to allow for shotguns... Especially if they allowed target transitions... I loved our set up at Eagle Creek before we closed, but nothing has come close to that.

Buckshot patterning is just as important as learning to run the gun...

Can we shoot at night? I’d make the trip!;)

We do a fair amount of Low light shooting at the local gun club/range that is 3.6 miles from my house. We hold low light matches and classes and sometimes I just go out there after dark to practice. Typically here at the house if I am shooting after dark it is because I am killing critters. My neighbors run an agri-tourism business so I try to be polite about only practicing at home during their off season. They do things like plow my 500 ft driveway in the winter (40+ times this year so far), brush chop my valley, till my garden plot, etc., so I like to stay on their good side. I will usually only shoot shotgun and .22 here at home. My neighbor to the South has his own Hickok esque steel range set up. He told me to come on over but I avoid going as I don't want to get in the habit and make a nuisance of myself. Of course if you are up this way, let me know and we will figure something out.
