If you are buying it from a FFL out of state, they will only ship it to an FFL in Indiana who can handle silencers. If you are buying from Silencershop, I would use Parabellum in Avon as the local dealer. They have a SS kiosk to make the Form 4 easy for your first time. Indy Arms is on the other side of Indy, but isnt related to Silencershop. Both of these FFLs have indoor ranges where you can shoot your silencer while you wait the 6 to 14 months for ATF approval of your Form 4. If you dont buy from Silencershop, be prepared to pay $50 to $100 to the local FFL for their transfer fee which includes helping to fill out your Form 4 (but you will also need to supply the $200 check to the ATF for the tax stamp).
Yeah, you purchase the silencer and pay full price. Then you fill out a Form 4 and fingerprint cards and passport photos and mail it all to the ATF with a $200 check. The ATF cashes the check within 2 to 4 weeks and then sends a stamp back to the dealer when you are approved 6 to 14 months later. When the dealer gets the stamp, they call you and you go and take your stamp and silencer home. This is why it may be beneficial to use a dealer like Parabellum or Indy Arms so that you can shoot your silencer at their range while you wait for ATF to send your stamp.
Yes, but only at specific dealers. Also, Indy Arms makes you shoot their range ammo if you are shooting rifles, so I prefer Parabellum especially with current ammo prices.
