I've seen several photos of the above mentioned weapon and some of them say "Made in Brazil"?!
Anybody know for sure where the stainless Mil-Spec is made?
In all honesty, there's nothing wrong with the Brazilian made Springers. My dad has one circa 2002ish and only issue he's had was the plunger tube came loose. I replaced it with a Wilson Combat tube, re-staked it, and he hasn't called me about problems with it since. Shoots good, eats everything we've fed it from crappy mags to 10-rd Chip McCormick PowerMag+'s. Don't know how the finish is compared to the USA made Springers, but for dad, that was the last thing he was concerned with.
Technically, aren't ALL Springfields "made" in Brazil? I think that the Springfield 1911s are fantastic pistols. The SA customer service is outstanding and the lifetime warranty is one of the best in the business. The frame and slide are both forged in Brazil.
Thanks for all the responses. I've been holding out for the Ruger but am keeping my options open (and getting impatient).
Some of the Brazilian 1911's I've held seem to have some too-sharp edges compared with others. I need to look at some more, I guess.
