Forgot to mention... Magpul does make a 50 round drum mag for the SP5 as well! Does add a decent amount of weight though.

It's heavy but it's not unwieldy. It's also very reliable. I've never had an issue with mine after almost 1500 rounds through it both suppressed and unsuppressed. It's somewhat of a pain to load, but it works

This is a long time “want” of mine, it will be mostly a range toy but once I get a suppressor for it there is a good chance it will become my HD gun.

It’s an H&K SP5 which is the civilian version of the MP5 sub machine gun in 9mm.

Also it’s bought and paid for gentlemen, should hopefully show up Wednesday!

Congrats! I love mine, but I can’t really help answer your question about accessory recommendations. I like the MP5 style gun in stripped down old-school mode. I put a vanilla A2 stock on mine after SBRing it and called it a day.

My brother got a factory b&t sbr recently and the stock for his has a recoil dampening system built into the stock. I'm guessing that's part of the expense. I don't know much about it (he has a billet lower on his that takes the b&t mags) but got to shoot it a bit today as I'm visiting where he lives. We popped my Obsidian 9 on it from my Scorpion as he wanted to see how much blow back he would get shooting lefty.

A APC9SD was considered and available, but it just does not have the “cool” factor an H&K does for me. Plus the B&Ts are just straight blowback and for some reason on a gun that expensive it just bothers me. B&T just adheres to the same pricing structure as H&K for stocks, all APC9s come with the buffer you just move it from stock to stock is my understanding. That being said for $4k before the stamps it’s a great way to get a true SD gun that makes all 9mm quiet

Even better! Good catch- not sure why there’s a mismatch. I’ll stick with my boring but very functional A2 stock, however.

Mine is wearing a collapsible stock, yes I sbr'd it, a Holosun 510 and a Silencerco 9k.
I shoot nothing but 147gr out of it and it is stupid quiet.

I have a B&T APC45 Pro and have had a couple of CMMG Banshees in .45. The APC45 is a softer shooter, despite being straight blowback, versus the radial delayed blowback of the Banshees. That integrated buffer makes a big difference. There is absolutely a reason that B&Ts are that expensive and I’m even a huge fan of the Banshees!

Picked it up today, it’s super nice! Everything is very well finished and even in its pistol configuration it has next to no recoil at all. Going to fill out my SBR paperwork tomorrow to get a real stock on this thing, and time to order optics mounts and whatnot. The trigger is not as bad as I thought it would be at 5.5 pounds either, once it’s an SBR I doubt I will notice it as much

I thought the trigger was fine on mine. Word of warning, some people say that theirs work fine with off brand mags, might will not.

The MP5 is a lot more “simple” internally, super easy to clean and reassemble and disassemble , only thing I didn’t do is take the charging handle assemble out or disassemble the locking block, but the basic field strip is easy enough. H&K trigger packs are interesting internally to say the least, maybe use some hard angles to get a better wall ?

Definitely a +1 on the SP5K-PDW recommendation. Here’s mine, along with my SP5 and UMP conversion. Unlike the SP5, I don’t mind tricking out the PDW!

Definitely made in Germany mags or none at all, now I am iffy on the MP5-K myself. The reason I like the 8.5~ gun is I can use 147gr ammo to be sneaky when a suppressor is used and 124+P when I really want to get some velocity and energy out of the round.


Now if I could feasibly get a transferable MP5-K that would be a totally different story.

The 40 round MCP and LIQ mags work great. I compete with them. I only have had one bad one.
