I don't think so...it was 80 last weekend...I am thinking she was loaded down with eggs and didn't think I was a threat worth fighting.?Rat snakes are usually feisty and cantankerous. Maybe she was just too cold to be mean.
Man my memory sucks. Thought it was cold last weekend. Lol.I don't think so...it was 80 last weekend...I am thinking she was loaded down with eggs and didn't think I was a threat worth fighting.?
That looks like a ringneck. I found one in my parents yard when young. I played with it for a few minutes and let it go.
I think you’re right, it looks like a northern ringneck, and they are pretty tiny snakes.did a google image search, Northern ringneck & Grass Snake come up.
I saw a tiny one dead at the range last week, couldn't have been more than 9 inches long.
Very interesting pic. That black rat snake has a condition called kinking. It’s like scoliosis in people. Years ago when I bred snakes, I had a couple hatchlings that had like two or three kinks. I’ve never seen a snake with its whole spine affected. It appears to be otherwise very healthy. This one was hanging around the house last weekend. Moved her to a new location because I didn't want the dogs getting any ideas. She was super chil didn't try to bite me and was happy in her new location.
She was about 4.5'-5' long. I would have let her chill in the yard but wanted to keep her safe from the dogs.
Corn snake I think. What snake is this? About 20 inches long
I stand with DoggyDaddyCorn snake I think.
Might be a milk snake. Did it have a black and white checkerboard pattern on its belly? What snake is this? About 20 inches long
Turns out I was wrong about that. Kinking is a real condition that affects some snakes, but Rat snakes often freeze in that position when they think they might be in danger.Very interesting pic.
