I bought an M11-A1 and love it. I know it's not a W. German P228, but I like the extra features it came with and I got a good deal on it. You can save money buying a used 228, but if any of the main extra features of the M11-A1 are important to you (SRT, night sites [any used P228 you buy with factory night sights, they're most likely to be dim]), you're probably not money ahead going with the M11-A1.
Also, for those that didn't know, P-228 and 229 13-rd 9MM mags will fit in the M11-A1. Just not the other way around.
