Both have their advantages and disadvantages. I like my 500, but the 870 is better for some.
As far as the safety goes, I hated the flat safety on top of the 500 when I put that stock on, so i got a bigger safety to enable me to reach it with my hand still on the grip.

Don't think I've posted this one yet.

    Great minds... ;)
The rear sight on my Chaos would vibrate loose... i.e. the silver bolt that holds the elevation drum would back out which would cause me to shoot high. I fixed it with loctite. IF you have that problem, be VERY careful taking it apart! There are 2 small springs that push two small ball bearings into the detents on the sight base. They are VERY small.Putting it back together was one of the most frustrating gun related things I've done in a while! There's probably a technique that makes it easier, but I never figured it out... glad I didn't loose any of the pieces.

I'd highly suggest you get the Magpul riser fo your stock; the 3/4" one gave me a perfect cheek weld with the Chaos. Best <$20 part on the gun.

Haven't had any trouble with my sight yet, knock on wood. And you couldn't be more right about the riser. I'm holding out on one so I have an excuse to go to the October 1500. The only thing left is a porkypine or too maybe chop the barrel down and perm. affix. a Red Jacket suppressor :smileak:. I'd hate to lose that Wart Hog brake, so it looks like the porkypine is most likely.

When I was 18 I purchased an Ithaca model 37 in 16ga. with a vent rib. I had to sell it to help pay for Andrea's books when she started her masters program. Only took me 27 years to find a replacement, but it was well worth the wait! Found this at Cabelas 99% in the box with vent rib, english stock, upgrade wood and checkering. Want to hunt with it but may just put it away in the safe
