I have both of my grandpas single shot 12 gauges
One is a JC Higgins (Sears & roebuck)
I also have a model 67 that was grandpa's
I have a Stevens bolt action 20 gauge
That was an uncles
I also have a Ruger single six and a Savage model
24 in 222/20 gauge that belonged to my best friend
They both belonged to his father first he too passed
at a young age!
O yea I also have a double barrel black power shotgun
That was my grandmothers uncles
Yea I am sentimental about some of my guns
I have a 10/22 that's about 25 years old, between me and my brother it's killed a trainload of varmints. I guess it's worth more to me than anybody else so I'll keep it.
The only other gun in my entire collection that holds an ounce of sentimental value is one of my earliest dedicated coyote rifles. A cheap old Savage 111F in 22-250 with a Simmons 6x20x50 on it. By far the most inexpensive varmint rifle I've ever had but I've drug it all over the country and killed well over a hundred called coyotes with it. It's the only GUN I have that brings back memories when I look at it... so it'll be mine until I'm 6' under.
I get sentimental about all my guns. Heck I lust after many more sometimes as soon as I see them. Some have names.
Five I have now I would never sell. My 9422M winchester (The first new rifle I bought), My ruger mark II government (The first new pistol i bought) my rem 700 .222 REM which groups dimes and nickels, my 870 wingmaster that dad bought me when i was 16, and my marlin 1894 limited my Indiana deer gun (Just to fun). Pretty much covers the bases of rimfire, rifles and shotgun I guess the rest could go if I HAD TO.
When I do trim the herd it is like parting with a child. I alsmost always attemp to replace what i sold eventually.
