A person doesn't need to have a LTCH to purchase any handgun or rifle from an individual or businessI was selling a TC barrel here in the Classifieds & a member graciously told me that it wasn't necessary for a buyer to have an LTCH to buy a barrel legally.
I have another question.
Does a person need to have an LTCH to legally buy a rifle from an individual?
Incorrect.Only legal requirement for selling *firearms* is that you believe them to be a proper person.
It seems like we had a discussion on this subject a while back, but it's always good for discussion. We are after all, an Internet discussion forumI was selling a TC barrel here in the Classifieds & a member graciously told me that it wasn't necessary for a buyer to have an LTCH to buy a barrel legally.

Wrong, no. More than what some would comply with, yes. Always two sides to a coinAm I wrong to still want to sell a handgun by requiring an LTCH, just b/c it gives some "vetting" and screening to insure a person is a "proper" person?
I have never been concerned about a long standing member here on INGO combined with the LTCH, of course.
But, I sometimes sell on another site, of which I am more concerned about a person I would be meeting and will still require it.
Also, I'm not too concerned about selling a hunting rifle to a person if it is not required, since that's really not the type of weapon used to commit crimes.
I really don't think this part was needed. Seems like a phishing scam to me.Does the seller have the option to sell at a 50% discount to staff members with distinguished grey beards who live in Hendricks County? Yes, but that might be "a bridge too far."

Thanks for that heads-up.I have seen your items listed on the other site and to frank i have had 3 people that had felonies try to purchase when i used that site, i got there name nd ran them on my case now if they ever had a felony outside of Indiana it wont show there! i b

I don't understand what is to be gained by coming to my door asking to see a gun that I bought at a store months or years ago since I am permitted to sell to another person w/o using the services of an FFL?It depends on what risks you're willing to assume. Though you may be on legal footing, the ATF would visit your FFL and then your home if even your gun case was in possession of a prohibited person. They will ask you to show them other firearms that were recorded on the FFL log. This is the point where you listen to their suggestions about future sales if all goes well.
I'm not clear at all where an FFL came into this discussion? It depends on what risks you're willing to assume.
