Nice buy on a 1006 for someone. I think mine was the gateway drug to all things 10 mm...

If I had the money I'd be all over that, though a new shed has to get bought first. My expansion has now turned to locating the uncommon 3rd gens. Though that 6906 my last of the commons if still around when the stimulus checks come in will get scooped. The final piece in my collection will be those rare ones that hover around 1k.

1775Submarine Quote: A nice 1006 was on armslist for 875 a day or 2 ago. Im sure its sold by now. Otherwise should be adding a 908 to my collection in a few hrs. Wish I had an extra 700 on hand would of bought both the 6906 and 3953 thats been floating around. Quote.

I too, have eyeballed those, especially the 6906, and even asked jim b a question about it at the beginning of March.
Done research on it more than once & wanted it, even as recently again as last weekend. :coffee:
I've had 3 of the Gen 3 (5906 x2 & 4006, and the 4006 had the coveted adjustable rear sights).
If one of my 5906 would have had the rear adjustable sights, I would have kept it.
Not keeping one of those was a mistake, and the Gen 3 continue to call to me. :ugh:

The 908 from old bear after calling Smith was made Jan 1996 which makes it an early 908 as they were made starting in 96. Now I got a bakers dozen of 3rd gens in my collection.

I keep thinking about buying the 6906 in the classifieds too. I don't need it, but it is such a good deal...

If I hadn't picked up a few 9mms lately, & two of them recently, I'd be all over it.
It could have been my last venture into the Gen 3.
I'm still mad at myself for letting the 4006 go with the rear adjustable sights.
Since my self-imposed parameters of retirement dictate I sell a gun to buy another (not always realized :dunno:), I fight "the call." :)

Are 5906s still lurking around for peanuts? My first centerfire handgun was an S&W 59, followed by my uncle's 659. Always wanted to add a 5906 to the collection.

You can find them for 325 to 350, though I haven't watched many on gb for a few months now so they may of gone up a bit.

I recently picked up a 5926 9mm. I haven't had a chance to go shoot it yet with the virus stuff going around but have shot a 5906 9mm and like how it shot.
Maybe within a month I can get out and do some shooting.

Great gun  That's the one the frame mounted decocker?
I feel for you, having a new gun purchase, but can't go shoot.
I have 3 guns that I've bought recently (one this week) & 3 others repaired or upgraded that I am aching to shoot.
    Enjoy!

Yeah it has the decocker. Kind of reminds me more or a Sig then a S&W.
I have 3 I haven't shot yet and the weather is perfect for it,but no place open. Maybe by the end of winter we can shoot the new ones!!

I'd put it at a 70%. It's been shot to death by the previous owner but after a few hours of cleaning it looks better.
Has some wear from being carried a lot. I'm guessing whoever owned it used it as an EDC for a few years. I bought it mainly for range use since I carry either a P229 40 or a LCP II 22. (Strange combo ik but sometimes the need to conceal more is needed and the LCP II does just that)
